Hi, I'm Shamit! I graduated summa cum laude with a Master's degree in Engineering, focusing on Data Science and Statistics. My professors at University of Michigan have really made me appreciate the role of a teacher in every student' life. I truly believe that a student's interest is kindled not only by interesting subjects, but also by teachers who make them interesting. My professors have really inspired me with their passion, and I try my best to extend this outlook to my students, with the hope that I can kindle a similar passion in them.
Over the last four years, I have tutored several students in mathematics, statistics, physics, and calculus. I have also trained SAT and GRE aspirants in math and quantitative reasoning. With every student I adopt a unique approach to overcome their weaknesses in the subject, in a way that harmonizes with their pace of learning. I once read a saying, "If you're good at something, there isn't much to learn; but if you not, there's so much you can learn!". As a tutor, this is my prime focus. There is nothing more satisfying than hearing a student go from "I hate math" to "I love math" - with a little bit of effort, it's possible!
A data scientist by profession, I truly live in the world of numbers. Burning through a challenging problem set with my students is an invigorating experience for me.
