Welcome! My name is Sammy G. I graduated with Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with a 3.5 GPA from the University of South Florida. In addition, I passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. While I attended university, I always liked studying with my friends from my classes. When I understood the concepts and knew how to solve the problems, I was able to explain them in an easy to follow and understand way to my friends. I have worked as a Chemical Engineer and have applied math, chemistry, and engineering concepts to solve real world problems. Furthermore, my education combined with my work experience enables me to understand problems conceptually and practically and I can explain these concepts effectively and from different viewpoints.

I enjoy helping students succeed in their courses. I am qualified to tutor in different math courses such as Pre-algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry, in test preparation for SAT math and ACT math, and in science courses such as Chemistry.

The key issue I have seen with students is that they are struggling with grasping definitions, concepts, and equations and knowing how, when, and why to apply them. This issue can come from a variety of reasons like lectures that are difficult to follow and understand, leaving out concepts in lecture notes that appear on quizzes and tests, or not provided with enough practice for each concept.

My goal in tutoring is to build a strong foundation of knowledge in definitions, concepts, and equations for every student I help in his or her course. With this foundation, my students improve their problem solving skills and build their confidence.

I have a strong passion for chemistry and math. I am enthusiastic about sharing these concepts and theories with other students, so they can understand and gain an appreciation of math and science and how they are connected with the real world and can be applied.

Please send me a message if you have any questions or if you would like to start this learning journey together!

Algebra 1

I was a chemical engineer for 10+ years. I took high school algebra 1 and 2 with all A’s. I tutored other students in those courses voluntarily. I passed the Engineer in Training exam in 2009, which had all math from algebra to calculus. This exam is the first step to becoming a Professional Engineer.

I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering with a 3.5 GPA. I passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, which is an exam based on the entire undergraduate chemical engineering program. I understand math concepts and can explain them in an easy to follow and understand way. Math can be a challenge for some students. However, I always have a method to close the knowledge gaps for my students. By strengthening students in the fundamentals, students are able to understand and master the concepts of math. They build strong problem solving skills and confidence.
