I can support homework completion, provide assistance developing a study plan, act as a reliable accountability buddy for a specific project, generally guide you in one or more of the subjects I cover… I offer unique interdisciplinary insights due to my STEAM background.

I completed my two degrees (B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a B.A. in Chinese Language, Literature, and Culture) simultaneously at the University of Florida. I was quite involved on campus and known among my peers for the time I dedicated to engineering education, sustainability, and leadership through service.

Chemistry was my favorite subject in high school, so I chose to complete my Extended Essay in Chemistry and get my ChemE degree. I incorporate chemistry knowledge in my day-to-day life and love any opportunity to hone my skills through tutoring.
Chinese

Chinese

My parents are both native speakers of Mandarin from Taiwan, so I self-studied traditional Chinese at a young age. However, I took Chinese through public school where only simplified was allowed, and my degree program through the University of Florida had an emphasis on simplified Chinese. Therefore, I am able to tutor in both and also have a basic knowledge of regional accents and vocabulary.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I worked for Kumon Math & Reading centers as a teacher and teaching assistant with children grades K-6. I also spent time as a volunteer for elementary level summer enrichment programs. Part of my time in elementary school I was enrolled in an accelerated program, and I never had much trouble in academics.
Interview Prep

I have experience with behavioral, technical, and case style interviews. I have also participated in multiple round interviews with site visits and can speak to interviewing with different types of interviewers (HR, management, peers). I have coached the STAR/CAR method as well as providing direct feedback and guidance on how to prepare for interviews with specific tips on how to utilize the resume during the interview, how to research the company, and identifying details to align yourself with the role.

PSAT

PSAT

I studied for the PSAT with the specific intention of qualifying for the National Merit Scholarship, and I was successful. I did not use any tutors or paid courses to study but after I qualified, I participated in a Revolution Prep course to help ensure that I would be able to meet the qualifying score on my SAT. I was able to exchange time to participate in the course for free, so I had behind-the-scenes access to how the course was structured.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I utilize public speaking for my job on a regular basis. I have been casually commended for my public speaking skills both by my peers and audience in the past. I attribute this to being involved in Speech & Debate starting in the fifth grade all the way through high school. I earned awards in both categories, and participated as a volunteer coach for middle school. These experiences involved small classroom-like settings practicing and editing pieces one-on-one or in groups of up to ten.
Speech

Speech

I worked as a supplemental English as a Foreign Language instructor for native Chinese speakers where I utilized my academic background of Chinese language, literature, and culture to assist students in identifying weaknesses and common pitfalls in their speech. I also formally studied Spanish for two years and am still studying informally, so I may be able to assist more advanced individuals who are studying with Spanish as a native language.
