I received a B.A. in History from Loyola University in New Orleans. I taught in both college and secondary schools, and then attended law school at Tulane University. My teaching experience includes teaching college classes at Xavier University of New Orleans and at the University of New Orleans. I then taught history for eight years, including seven years at Isidore Newman school. Newman is one of the best schools in the country and annually places highly in the number of National Merit Scholars it produces. Altogether, I taught for ten years, and practiced law for about twenty years.

My wife and I moved to Florida after Hurricane Katrina destroyed our home in New Orleans. I no longer practice law, but have always enjoyed teaching and would like to help anyone in need of a tutor. I am proficient in a number of subjects. These include AP U.S. History, AP World History, AP English, Public Speaking, Writing, and Law. I specialize in tutoring students for all of the English portions of the SAT, ACT, and GRE. I also tutor for the LSAT. I teach the subject-matter for standardized tests, as well as test-taking techniques to help students maximize their scores. I also specialize in tutoring for AP U.S History and AP World History. During my career, I've coached golf and football.

I believe in identifying a student's strengths as well as weaknesses, and use the former to improve the latter. I try to keep the subject being taught both lively and entertaining, and to make learning a positive experience. Most of all, I care about my students and will always do my best to help them succeed.

Bar Exam

Bar Exam

I went to law school at Tulane University and received a JD upon graduation in 1987. I passed the Louisiana Bar Exam. While I was preparing for the bar and for a year afterwards, I taught classes to paralegals at a school called the Institute of Legal Studies. I also wrote, developed, and taught a paralegal course for adults in Jefferson Parish, LA.
Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice

While in law school, I took numerous courses in criminal law. As an attorney, criminal defense was one of my primary specializations. This required a hands-on knowledge of police methods and procedures. During my legal career, I represented clients charged with offenses ranging anywhere from murder to traffic offenses. I engaged in plea bargaining in many cases when it was advantageous to my client. I also took many cases to trial (both by jury and by judge) and had a very high success rate when doing so.
Golf

Golf

I have played golf for over fifty years. While teaching at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, I was, in addition to my teaching duties, the golf coach. I worked with young golfers and helped them improve many aspects of their game. I currently still play regularly and shoot in the mid-seventies.
Proofreading

Proofreading

I have a Juris Doctor from Tulane Law School and practiced before both state and Federal Courts for twenty years. I have submitted documents of many different types to various courts (Criminal Court, Civil Court, Juvenile Court, State Courts of Appeal, U.s. District Courts) of this country. All of these documents must be proofread and submitted with no errors.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I have a B.A. in History, a M.A. in Drama & Communications, and a J.D. As a teenager, I acted as the lead in numerous plays and skits. Upon graduation, I taught for ten years (including speech at Xavier University) and was the director of the Assembly Committee at Isidore Newman school in New Orleans. As such, I was responsible for programs and entertainment for over 600 students approximately six times a year. I acted as the master-of-ceremonies on all assemblies. I then got my J.D. and practiced law for 18 years, arguing many cases before juries with a high success rate (over 90%). I also was a band member and lead singer for a popular rock band in New Orleans, and have played music before large audiences many times. All of these prior activities have given me much experience in getting ideas over to an audience, and in public speaking in general. Over the years, I have learned many techniques that benefit anyone interested in public speaking. I would love to share that knowledge.

Best LSAT Tutor you could ask for!!

Before I met Mr. Brown it was 3 weeks before my LSAT exam and I barely a 137 score with no idea how to improve my skills in Reading Comprehension and Logical Reasoning. With daily lessons for the rest of the weeks with Mr. Brown I was able to increase my score up to 155! He’s an excellent teacher that has amazing methods that allow you to understand everything in a fun and personal way! You can absolutely tell the moment you meet him he is passionate about everything he does. There was not a single moment that was dull or stressful, I loved coming back everyday for an hour and practicing with him! Thank you for everything Mr. Brown!! :)

Excellent

Justin has helped me prepare for my LSAT for the past three months. When we first starting working together I just wanted a little bump in my score but the techniques he taught me made an even bigger impact on my score than I ever would have thought was possible. I was scoring in the 155 range on practice tests and Justin helped boost that to 161! He makes learning so fun, he is so patient and incredibly motivating. His techniques and unique view of the test really helped me grasp the concepts and better hone my skills. Overall, Justin is an amazing teacher who truly cares about the success of his students and can even make studying the LSAT fun (which is not an easy task).

Best Tutor- Helped me improve my LSAT Score by 11 points!! I can’t recommend Justin enough!!

Before I started working with Justin, I had taken an LSAT course that left me feeling completely lost. Despite putting in the time, I didn’t see progress and felt more confused than confident. I had taken the LSAT twice and was starting to question if law school was even the right path for me. When I came across Justin’s great reviews, I decided to reach out — and I’m so grateful I did. From our very first session in early November, I felt supported and understood. I shared my LSAT journey with him, and he immediately met me with kindness, encouragement, and zero judgment. We started meeting once a week and then transitioned to meeting twice a week as the January LSAT approached, and thanks to his guidance, I improved my score by 11 points. 11. Points. I was beyond excited — not just because of the score boost, but because for the first time, I felt like I could do this. I reached out to Justin to let him know and stated that I wanted to take the LSAT one more time. Now, as I approach my April test date, Justin and I have continued meeting twice a week, narrowing our focus even more to push my score higher. He’s remained endlessly encouraging, always reminding me of how far I’ve come. His ability to simplify complex concepts is a big reason I’ve been able to improve so much — he makes the LSAT feel manageable and even enjoyable at times because I have found that I can understand the material way better. Justin is not only knowledgeable and effective, but he’s also genuinely kind, patient, and easy to talk to. He always made me feel seen and supported, consistently offering positive feedback and celebrating my growth along the way. There were definitely moments when I felt frustrated or worried that I wasn’t improving enough, but Justin always reminded me of how far I’d come. He reassured me that the LSAT is supposed to be difficult — and that I have come so far from where I used to be. If you’re looking for an LSAT tutor, I can’t recommend Justin enough. He helped me regain confidence during a time I was really doubting myself, and I truly don’t know where I’d be in this process without him. He’s one of those rare tutors who not only knows the material inside and out, but also knows how to meet you where you are. I cannot thank him enough for helping me rediscover my confidence and reminding me that this goal is possible. I’m so thankful for the months I’ve spent working with him — I have seen nothing but improvements.
