I am a sophomore at Florida State University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with a minor in Urban Development, and I currently hold a 3.8 GPA. My coursework has given me a strong foundation in environmental systems, sustainability, and the broader scientific principles that connect to earth science and biology at the introductory and intermediate levels. Alongside my academic work, I am an active member of FSU's Environmental Service Program, where I participate in student-led conservation and sustainability projects, which keeps my subject knowledge grounded in real, applied work rather than just classroom theory.
My teaching-adjacent experience comes primarily from serving as a Camp Counselor with USTA Florida, where I supervised daily activities for school-age campers and was directly responsible for facilitating educational and recreational programming in a group setting. That role required me to break down instructions clearly, adapt my explanations on the fly depending on how quickly a camper was grasping a concept, and keep a group engaged over sustained periods, skills that translate directly to one-on-one tutoring, where patience and the ability to re-explain a concept in a different way are essential.

My approach to tutoring would emphasize meeting a student where they are rather than teaching to a fixed script. I plan to check for understanding frequently, use real-world environmental examples to make abstract concepts concrete, and adjust pacing based on how a student is responding rather than sticking rigidly to a lesson plan. I am comfortable working with students individually and believe my mix of academic standing in the subject and hands-on experience explaining concepts to groups makes me well suited to support students in environmental science and related earth science topics

Earth Science

Earth Science

My background in Earth science comes primarily through my Environmental Science major at Florida State University, where I maintain a 3.8 GPA and study the systems that make up Earth science more broadly, including ecosystems, atmospheric processes, water systems, and how human development interacts with them. I built on this foundation with a Geology course during my first semester of college, which covered core Earth science topics like rock and mineral formation, plate tectonics, and geologic processes in direct, applied detail.
Environmental Science

Environmental Science

I completed AP Environmental Science in high school, which gave me an early, rigorous foundation in ecosystems, biogeochemical cycles, pollution, and resource management before I ever reached college. I am now a sophomore at Florida State University majoring in Environmental Science with a minor in Urban Development, maintaining a 3.8 GPA while taking coursework that builds directly on those AP fundamentals at a deeper, more technical level. I am also an active member of FSU's Environmental Service Program, where I apply classroom concepts to real student-led conservation and sustainability projects, giving me practical, hands-on context beyond textbook knowledge. This combination of early AP-level training, current college coursework, and applied fieldwork means I can explain environmental science concepts at both the introductory and intermediate levels with real depth.
Reading

Reading

I completed both AP Language and Composition and AP Literature and Composition in high school and passed both AP exams, which required close, analytical reading of dense nonfiction, rhetoric, and classic literary texts under real testing conditions. Those courses trained me to break down what a passage is actually doing, whether that's identifying an author's main argument, tone, structure, or purpose, rather than just skimming for surface-level facts.
