Tutoring is my way to inspire future business leaders of the world. Building a great foundation means starting with the basics: math, language arts, and foreign language. I have a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management and a minor in Elementary Education where I graduated at the top of my class making the Dean's List (multiple times) and honored by Who's Who in Foreign Languages. I have ten years of tutoring experience with grade levels K-12. I had perfect attendance from kindergarten through college graduation with an average G.P.A. of 3.6!
In elementary math (grades K-6), my approach is to show students the logic and methodology behind numbers and formulas. We work on a few equations together, then I let the student show me how to calculate the problem. Once they have a good understanding of the concept, we move on to other challenges. In Geometry (grades 9-10), I present a visual of the equation showing the given information and using theorems and postulates to find the missing values.
These are some of the topics I cover with students. Finding missing angles with parallel lines, triangles, quadrilaterals, area, volume, identifying complimentary and supplementary angles, alternate interior angles, corresponding angles, and defining geometric terms. In Language Arts (grades K-12), students read passages and answer related questions. I also encourage them to read sample essays and give me a critique of how they would write it differently. Articles that don't have relevant questions are summarized by my students to show their understanding of the plot and character development. I cover all areas of grammar including punctuation, tenses, sentence structure, and figurative language. In Spanish (grades 9-12), my students learn pronunciation, conjugation of verbs, emphasis on accent marks, classification of nouns and articles as masculine or feminine. To enhance a student's vocabulary, I cover the traditions, cultural arts, and food of various Hispanic countries.
