I am a Registered Nurse with a Master's in Nursing Education. I have over 8 years of experience in nursing education and more than 15 years of clinical nursing experience.
I currently work as a full-time Nursing Instructor, where I teach adult nursing students medical-surgical nursing, ABGs, endocrine disorders, and NCLEX preparation. Previously, I taught practical nursing students pharmacology, dosage calculations, medical-surgical nursing theory, and clinical skills during supervised clinical rotations. I am also skilled in dosage calculation and dimensional analysis.
My teaching philosophy focuses on helping students truly understand nursing concepts rather than simply memorizing information. One of my favorite teaching strategies is creating mock exam questions and working through them together with students. We discuss not only why the correct answer is right, but also why each of the other answer choices is incorrect. This approach helps students develop critical thinking skills, improve their clinical judgment, recognize common testing traps, and become more confident when answering challenging nursing exam and NCLEX-style questions.
My extensive clinical background includes medical-surgical nursing, telemetry, oncology, hospice, and infusion nursing. I have also worked as a charge nurse and clinical preceptor, providing hands-on education and guidance to nurses in clinical settings. I use these real-world experiences to make complex nursing topics more relatable and easier to understand.
I recognize that every student learns differently, and I adapt my teaching methods to meet individual learning needs. I strive to create a supportive, patient, and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning from them.
My goal is not just to help students pass their exams, but to help them understand the reasoning behind nursing decisions, develop confidence in their knowledge, and become safe, competent nurses.
