Hi there! I'm a 99th percentile SAT scorer and have been tutoring for 10 years with 5000+ hours accumulated so far. I started tutoring for community service hours in my Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society at my high school, and for the latter half thereof, I became the coach for and team member of our award-winning Calculus division.
During my college studies, I worked as a tutor for a company as well as Miami-Dade College, where I assisted 100+ students with courses ranging from remedial mathematics to Calculus III. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida International University in 2019 with a BS in Computer Science and a BS in Applied Mathematics.
While I'm glad that I graduated with two degrees, I realized that my passion lay not so much in software engineering (despite having done an internship in Seattle, which was an enjoyable experience) but in math education, which is why I became a teacher. I became certified in Mathematics 6-12 by FLDOE and worked as an Algebra teacher. However, I craved that one-on-one experience as well as the myriad of subjects for which I helped my students, which is why I made the decision to leave the classroom and pursue online tutoring full-time. Today, I work as an in-class tutor at a local high school in the daytime and a full-time Math and SAT/ACT Prep tutor in the evenings. I was also recently granted membership in Mensa thanks to my abilities in Math.
Above all else, I am a personable tutor who will almost always find a way to relate to my students, not to mention break down complicated topics into easy-to-understand components. I make my sessions a safe, welcoming space where the student is not afraid to make mistakes and is able to come out more confident and capable of success in their courses. I laugh a lot (yes, I even laugh at math. I'm a nerd at heart!), and laughs do prove to be contagious.
