Teaching English is my passion and my mission in life. I have the knowledge and expertise a doctorate and 35+ years of teaching experience can give, and I consider myself an advocate of international students, English language learners, and non-traditional students in general. I can be not only your teacher but also your mentor, which will help you make it through barriers and obstacles to achieve your goals. Your needs are at the top of my priority list.
I can drive to your place or we can meet in a public place, and if your schedule is tight, we can meet through Skype at irregular times and for as long as you can. I will provide you will all materials for free, so as to make the most of the money you invest in your tutoring. Your success is my mission.
I have a Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition and Instructional Technology, a Master's in Education, and a Bachelor's in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. I have taught English for more than 35 years, in different countries, to students with different cultural backgrounds, and ages ranging from 3 to 88 years old. Additionally, the socio-economic status of my students has ranged from that of top executives in American corporations to at-risk teens and adults in South American slums. Such expertise has made me flexible and adaptable to my students needs, backgrounds, and contexts.
When I was told I needed to take the GRE and get more than 1000 points in it for my doctoral program admission in 2007, I had no idea what the GRE was. I registered and took the exam with no preparation. My result was a combined score of 1490. When the test administrator told me she had never seen such a high result before, I decided to train myself more seriously and help others pass this challenging test.
Let me help you reach your educational goals. I know what I'm doing. Trust me. Let me make what you find hard easy. With my help, you can make it. Teaching English is my passion and my mission in life. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition from the University of South Florida. I have taught all sections of IELTS for three consecutive years.
