Hello! My name is Jessica. I am a current undergraduate in UWF's music education program. I love everything music and am eager to help anyone who wants to improve their abilities, whether you're a beginner player, someone who needs specific help on a piece of audition, or even someone looking for an advanced perspective on playing. I strive to help students understand everything I am teaching, and go out of my way to help them be successful.
In my teaching philosophy, working with the student to really understand the materials and concepts is more important than reaching some testing benchmark. Each lesson will go at the pace of the student, making sure they full understand everything I am teaching. Unless the student has a specific piece/audition/event they need help preparing for, lessons will consist of learning scales, techniques, and certain repertoire and etudes chosen by myself and/or the student.
In my 8 years of playing, I have earned many achievements, such as successfully auditioning into district honor bands every time I tried out, earning "Superior" ratings on 8 out of 10 Solo and Ensemble performances, including 3 state qualifying performances (2 cancelled due to COVID) a straight Superior rating at the state level, and successfully holding numerous band leadership positions based on my musicianship and teaching ability.
I am only currently offering lessons. Online lessons offer more flexibility for the student and teacher, and also allow for more students to take advantage of opportunities that would otherwise not be available. If you would like a lesson, or have any questions, please let me know!
