Hello! My name is Elizabeth. I recently graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology. I am genuinely interested in helping students succeed due to my past struggles with math during elementary school. I received math tutoring for a few years as a result of my struggles, which helped me to become a successful student. Thanks to tutoring, I was eventually able to excel in math without needing tutoring. I want to pass my positive experiences with tutoring on to other students so they can be successful too. Due to my past struggles with math, I understand that each student has their own unique learning style and learns at their own pace. Therefore, I will work at each student’s pace to help them understand the material and use the techniques and resources that work best for that individual student. I will do my best to make my lessons fun and interactive and encourage the student to practice the material on their own.

I've taken multiple science and math classes while in college (including statistics, biostatistics, genetics, and ecology), and I have previous experience tutoring elementary school students in math. In my most recent tutoring experience, I worked with a group of three students in need of additional assistance in each of the two grade levels I was tutoring (3rd and 5th grade), while also working one-on-one with the student in the group who needed the most assistance to help them catch up in time for their end of the year state exam. Additionally, I previously worked as a teaching assistant in a college biology lab class. I helped students learn and understand the class material by helping them whenever they had questions or problems.

My goal is to help students succeed, so I welcome any suggestions or resources that parents and students are willing to provide. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or want to schedule a lesson! I generally respond quickly and am easy to reach.

Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

Having recently graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology, I have taken and passed many upper-level math courses in both high school and college, including algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, calculus, and statistics. I am also currently working as an SAT Math tutor (at a company independent of Wyzant) to help students prepare for the new Digital SAT, which now covers the same subjects as the ACT Math.
Biology

Biology

I recently graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology and was required to take multiple biology courses as part of my degree program. I also took Pre-AP Biology and AP Biology in high school, passing both classes with an A and scoring a level 4 on the AP Biology Exam. Additionally, I worked as a TA for freshman college biology lab class one semester, assisting students and helping to set up lessons.
Ecology

Ecology

I have taken coursework in ecology and I have designed and conducted research in ecology as well. As part of an Ecology Lab course I took for my degree, I took part in designing and conducting a leaf litter decomposition experiment. I also planning, developing, and performing a summer undergraduate research project as part of an internship at the University of North Florida. My research project looked at the relationship between Florida crown conch density and biotic factors within northern Florida oyster reef ecosystems.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I have previous experience tutoring elementary school students in math. I am a recent college graduate who has taken multiple math classes as part of my coursework. I also have experience using math skills in my college classes to analyze data.
Genetics

Genetics

I have taken two genetics courses as part of my undergraduate coursework (Genetics and Genetics Lab) both of which I passed with an A. I also took a molecular biology class that I passed with an A. Additionally, I took various biology courses before college that also included genetics topics, including AP Biology and Pre-AP Biology in high school.
Geometry

Geometry

I took Geometry Honors in high school and passed the course with an A. I not only excelled in the class, but I found the subject easy and enjoyed it. I also scored a level 4 out of 5 on the Florida 2016 Geometry EOC.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology, a degree program that involves the use of various higher level math skills to analyze data. Additionally I have taken and excelled at multiple higher level math classes in high school and college including Honors Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB, college statistics (taken as a dual-enrollment student), and undergraduate biostatistic. I also took Advanced Pre-Algebra in middle school and passed it with an A, before going on to take Algebra 1 Honors and Algebra 2 Honors, both of which I also passed with an A.
PSAT

PSAT

I have taken the PSAT and the SAT multiple times, each time improving my SAT math score. The last time I took the SAT, I scored in the 85th national percentile for SAT math. I have also taken multiple high-level math classes throughout high school and college such as pre-calculus, calculus, and statistics.
