In addition to doing freelance graphic design since 1999 (and utilizing and constantly retraining on the required software, which I teach) I have taught at Briarcliffe College (a division of Career Education Corp.) in Bethpage NY from 2001 - 2005, at which time I moved to Florida. I have taught at both Palm Beach State College in their Learning Unlimited and Continuing and Corporate Ed programs since 2009, and for the School District of Palm Beach County in its Adult and Community Ed program from 2010- 2019. In addition, I have many private students whom I tutor at their place of business or residence.

I generally teach graphics applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, etc., and also general computer instruction.

One of the cornerstones of my classes is my belief that they must be tailored to the needs and goals of the students. Many adults come to these classes with tremendous variation in their experience and skills; it is my primary job to first ascertain what my students need and how best to proceed to attain their goals.

I strive to promote a low pressure and welcoming atmosphere, geared to the needs and goals of adult students. I use discussions, demonstrations, videos, hand outs, and other materials to demystify Photoshop and other software to help students to discover its endless creative possibilities for business and personal expression.

Approved Subjects

Adobe Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator

I have used and taught Adobe Illustrator for more than 15 years. It was my first love in my graphic studies. I use it for not only logo and product design, but also for illustrating and fine art, getting some fine "painterly" effects which most people would attribute to a program like Photoshop. I can teach the basics as well as advanced artistic composition using Illustrator. I am a local digital artist and use the vector capabilities from Illustrator and combine them with Photoshop to create artistic compositions. I am a member of several local arts organizations and am regularly included in juried exhibits.
Adobe InDesign

Adobe InDesign

I have worked for more than 15 years as a freelance graphic artist, and during that time had to constantly keep current with page layout software. Adobe InDesign, being an integral part of the Create Suite, integrates seamlessly with Photoshop and Illustrator to create single and multi page documents for print and web. I start at the beginning, with going over the basic tools and panels, and we construct basic documents with master pages, styles, links which then are packaged and are ready to send out to a printer or a web host.
Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop

I have over 15 years of using (as a graphic artist) and teaching Photoshop, from ages 8 - 80. I start with the basics of the tools, interface and move on to the fundamentals of selections and layers. After that I go on to basic retouching, image editing and more creative areas such as photo collage. I am a member of the Kelby One (formerly know as National Association of Photoshop Professionals) and regularly attend their conferences and seminars to stay continually updated in this important software package. I also belong to several local arts organizations for which I am regularly included in juried exhibits. I presently teach at Palm Beach State College and the School District of Palm Beach County as an adjunct. I also have many private students.
Desktop Publishing

Desktop Publishing

I have over 15years of experience using Adobe's Creative Cloud, covering all the bases for producing desktop publishing for print and web. I teach Photoshop for photo imaging, Illustrator for vector art and logos, InDesign for page layout, Acrobat for cross platform connectivity. Dreamweaver and Fireworks along with Flash are used for web projects. Many of these tools overlap in what they can produce, (ie, you can create a business card in InDesign, Illustrator or even Photoshop) and I can teach the similarities and differences in each program and how to choose the right one for your project.
General Computer

General Computer

Today, people who are not "computer literate" are essentially cut off from the rest of the world, not possessing a language which everyone else speaks. I have made it my mission to help older people who have not grown up with this technology to acclimate to computers and the overcome their fears about using them. I have a tremendous amount of patience with new students and I firmly believe that EVERYONE has the capacity to learn and use a computer for work and pleasure.
Macintosh

Macintosh

I have personally owned ten different Macintosh computers since 1994, beginning with OS 7 through the present day OS X. I taught Intro to Mac in a technical college in NY (Briarcliffe College) where I detailed not only the hardware, software and OS, but also what used projects to demonstrate their use in the real world. I also teach in a PC lab in various schools, so I can compare and contrast between the two Operating Systems, and I know how to navigate around both systems. I have also taught my private students as well as classes on Macs, and also teach students to use the iPad.
