Helping others is very important to me. I have been blessed with many great teachers and mentors along the way and have always wanted to pass along the gift. I really struggled with reading literacy and comprehension, but fortunately my mother was a reading teacher who pushed me in so many ways that helped me succeed. I have seen it all, especially in this covid era. I have worked with children from all walks of life, ages preschool to 12th grade, and all abilities. I understand that...

I understand that your time is very important and that this is your baby we are talking about here. I would be glad to talk to you more if you are interested.

I have seen and I’ve heard parents’ concerns with hours of worry over their child’s well-being and future. I believe that education is so powerful. We are all unique. I will try to create an ideal environment for success that is safe and balanced. I strive to set a good example and lead by dedication, determination, and a positive attitude. I also emphasize the importance of good time management skills.

I want students to look at themselves without comparing themselves to others. As long as they work hard, they will be satisfied. The things that come the hardest and require the most work and struggle are the ones to be the proudest of.

ADHD

ADHD

I feel like I can relate to children with ADHD specifically because I have been diagnosed with it myself. I am aware how much harder it will make reading, comprehension, and school all together. My upbringing and background with an Elementary Education degree have taught me many strategies I have used to overcome obstacles with academies and daily living that I am always glad to assist others with and help them still live a successful life.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Having a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a masters in Speech-Language Pathology has taught me so much about ASD. One of the most beneficial experiences I have ever had was as a graduate clinician with three young boys as clients who literally went in order from mild to moderate to severe ASD. This really informed me as to why we refer to it as a spectrum. People have always told me that they believe I was given an extra dose of kindness and patience, so I definitely apply that to my sessions.
Common Core

Common Core

I have a lot of experience in writing comprehensive communication reports and developing treatment plans effectively and efficiently to monitor progress. I have a bachelors in Elementary Education and prior teaching experience and know how to establish positive rapport with clients and their families. I am well aware of how rigorous the Common Core is these days and have to really examine it myself and keep up with it as it seems to constantly be changing.
Dyslexia

Dyslexia

With my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, I have a lot of experience with children who have dyslexia, It seems that one of the biggest errors that I have noticed is children trying to differentiate between the “d” and “b.” One technique that I have used that has proven to be very effective lately are the “Lively Letters,” which incorporate very creative and fun ways to remember how to properly write and read these letters. For example, we go over, “What comes first, the bat or the drum?”
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

With my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, I have focused instruction for students through activities and mini lessons that were age appropriate and multi-leveled. I have worked virtually for over three years now, both in groups and with individuals, so I have basically seen it all. Let me assure you that 1-to-1 is NOT the same as 1-to-25! Yes, your child may have not had the best online school experience before. There are so many distractions, background noises from the other students, and the teacher can’t address everything at one time. This is not the same experience!
Homeschool

Homeschool

Yes, it may seem obvious, but I've had a lot of parents tell me that their child didn't do well working online with their teacher or working in groups with others. However, your child didn't have me - a veteran with 15+ years’ experience working with children, trained at the graduate level, a former teacher, and person who also grew up with a learning disability. Basically, I'm not your average teacher. Because school is an all-day affair, virtual school had to mirror normal class. Classes were excessively long and painful - our sessions simply won't be that long.
Linguistics

Linguistics

I have gained a lot of experience with culturally and linguistically diverse clients. I am well aware that it can be quite a challenge, but fortunately, I am not afraid of a challenge. One of the best and most important qualities to teach children is that we are all unique and no matter what language we speak, we still matter. My background with an Elementary Education degree has given me a strong insight into linguistics!
Speech

Speech

With my bachelor’s degree in elementary education and years of working with children, I am very familiar with articulation, language, and fluency disorders. I understand the importance of helping students speak clearly, articulate, and not be embarrassed or ashamed of their voices. In a virtual setting, I know that students often will only want to communicate via chat box, and I make it a goal to help them step out of their comfort zone and be comfortable in their own skin.
