My name is Joe and I am a guitar teacher and Step Up approved. I am a certified Music k-12 teacher. I am starting to teach lessons online.

I have been teaching guitar for 30 years, 16 teaching private lessons at various music stores and 14 years as the guitar teacher at Winter Park High School. I began working as a freelance guitarist and teacher in 1993. As a performer I have played all over Orlando in different styles of music and settings, notably Disney World, Carnival Cruise Lines, the Bob Carr and Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center. On the teaching side I taught 20-40 lessons a week pending how much performing I was doing at the time. By 2004 I taught almost exclusively, I even owned a music store called High Note Music in Longwood, FL. The store was focused on lessons on all instruments, I had about 20 instructors working for me. After I sold High Note in 2007 I went to work for Parke House Academy, a private elementary school part time and continued to teach private lessons. I stayed at Parke House for 3 years until I was hired Winter Park High full time. I taught only guitar classes, 4 different levels, from 2010 until just recently.

I teach all students how to read standard notation, ear training, improvisation and composition. It sounds like a lot but I do it simultaneously, in small digestible steps, starting with just a few notes and then progressively add more material. I like to use the student’s musical interest as vehicles to learn, each student will get a personalized lesson based on their ability and interest. I offer a variety of lesson packages.
