Oi, everyone! My name is Silvana. I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil but I chose United States to be my home. I am a very blessed citizen because I have two countries in my heart, and I love both in the same way. I have a passion for teaching and to be with students makes me very happy. I graduated from the University of Rio de Janeiro in Portuguese and Hebrew and respective Literatures. I also graduated from a Baptist Seminary where I got my BA degree in Religious Education. I graduated from Master of Education in World Instruction-Portuguese Program from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota.
I am a seasonal professor at Concordia College Language Village, in Bemidji, MN. I also work as seasonal lead instructor/coordinator of Portuguese and Culture for Language Training Center (LTC) in a partnership program between the U.S. Department of Defense and Concordia Language Villages in Bemidji. In addition, I teach Portuguese online, developing customized lessons for adults and children.
After a life of teaching, I can say that my goal as a teacher in first place has been to be a friend of my students. A friend in whom they can count to come with their doubts about almost everything: dreams, how to reach their goals, how to deal with failures, how to start again, how to feel useful in the society, how to be happy and make others happy too. And because I believe that when you learn a second language a wider path is opened to conquer your dreams; I want to offer my help teaching Portuguese and Brazilian culture.
