I have been teaching English Language Arts and composition for several years, working with students ranging from middle school through college. In addition to my classroom experience, I have taught college composition as an adjunct instructor, which has given me a strong foundation in meeting learners at every level — from students just building foundational skills to those preparing for academic writing. My experience spans both large classroom settings and individualized instruction, and I genuinely enjoy the one-on-one dynamic where I can tailor every session to a specific student's needs and pace.
My reading instruction is grounded in structured literacy. I hold a K-12 reading endorsement earned through the UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute) program, which means my approach to teaching reading is systematic, explicit, and research-backed. I work with students on phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, and comprehension using methods that are especially effective for developing and struggling readers. I believe every child can become a confident reader when instruction meets them where they are.
When I tutor, I focus on building genuine understanding rather than just getting through material. I keep sessions engaging and low-pressure, and I communicate openly with parents about progress and next steps. Whether a student needs foundational reading support, help with writing, or a confidence boost in ELA, I bring both the credentials and the care to make real progress happen.
