Greetings! My name is Dr. Melody D. and I look forward to being your tutor and mentor. To begin with, my educational background includes a bachelor's in Music Business, a master's in Education and Psychology, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership. Quality teaching, learning, and ensuring a professional environment are the most critical aspects of education, in my opinion. Studies have shown that when teachers are highly qualified, academic outcome improves amongst students. That said, I consider myself a highly qualified global educator and career and life counselor.
Secondly, my knowledge and experience in education spans well over 20 years in K-12 and Higher Education. As a K-12 educator, I taught General Music, Reading Literacy, and English Composition. Currently, I teach courses on life and career skills, as well as, student success in the classroom. As a global educator, in China, I taught courses ranging from Conversational English, Leadership, and Music. Furthermore, I held faculty professional development workshops on cultural awareness and East meets West teaching and learning practices.
My role as a career and life counselor includes helping students prepare for and conduct an effective job search, use evaluating tools to identify a student's personality type, and identify transferable skills that might translate into career preferences. Simultaneously, my role as a life coach is to help students make progress in their lives in order to attain greater fulfillment, clarify goals, identify obstacles, and come up with strategies for overcoming each obstacle.
