Hi, I'm Audreen! I am an engineer by profession and have 10+ years experience tutoring various levels of math. While attending the University of Florida, I worked as a peer tutor, helping students with subjects ranging from College Algebra to Calculus I. I have also tutored middle school and high school students in courses ranging from PreAlgebra to PreCalculus as well as SAT/ACT math prep. I tutored for a period of time on an online platform, where I adapted my teaching strategies to meet the needs of online learners. I have continued tutoring alongside working as an engineer because I genuinely enjoy helping people of all ages learn that they are not bad at math.
In my experience, students who struggle with math are not necessarily bad at math. There are usually gaps in foundational concepts that make the current course material harder to master. While we work on what your student is covering in class, I am also looking out for these gaps at the same time. When I notice them, we address sometimes we can fully address it in the same session and sometimes that means a worksheet or some additional practice outside of our sessions.
I primarily conduct sessions virtually. For clients in the Kissimmee and Orlando area, I prefer to have the first session in person when possible. At that meeting, I typically provide a small whiteboard for the student to use during future virtual sessions. Having students write out and show their work on camera helps sessions run smoothly.
I offer tutoring in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus for students in 6th through 12th grade, as well as college and adult learners. I also offer SAT and ACT math prep for students focused on improving their scores on the math portion of those exams.
