Hello, I'm Barbara! I am a senior physics major with Barrett, the Honors College. I am presently working on my undergraduate thesis, which is focused on the topic of black holes. I have also participated in research opportunities with Arizona State University and NASA L'SPACE. I was awarded the Department of Physics Scholarship for Undergraduates in the 2022/2023 academic year. My biggest strength as a tutor is I am extremely positive and supportive of my students. I am extremely passionate about my subjects, and I want to share that passion and enjoyment with students.

I have nearly three years' tutoring experience working as an online Writing Mentor with Arizona State University. Over the course of my mentoring, I was given five SUN Awards by faculty for going the extra mile to support student success and for my quick responses to student questions on the Q&A forum. I gave students feedback and support as they worked on their writing projects. Every week, I designed newsletters to give resources and advice on the week's assignments. I would take student e-mails with any questions about the course. When the first draft of the main project came due, each term I would offer my full feedback on their work through either e-mail or Zoom depending upon the student's wishes. My experience as a Writing Mentor has given me experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, as I have mentored several students for whom English was not their first language. In addition to my experience tutoring college students online, I have also volunteered to tutor in an elementary school, where I would help students work through class worksheets.

I specialize in physics, mathematics, and writing. I am eager to help students as much as possible, and I am swift to reply to messages. As a fellow student, I understand how important getting help quickly can be when the due date is approaching. Please feel free to message me if you have any questions or would like to schedule a lesson!
