Reggie T.

My name is Reggie T., and I am a fiction, poetry, and essay writer, who graduated from Boise State University with an MFA (Masters of Fine Arts) in Creative Writing in 2012, and have since taught English and writing classes at Valencia College, Boise State University, College of Idaho, College of Western Idaho, and Edmonds College in Lynwood, Washington. I look forward to getting to know each of you, and developing our writing processes together. While writing can be challenging, your comfort level and skills will come with work and patience. If you keep at it, make and learn from mistakes, and give yourself time and understanding, you can be a successful writer, and make the tools of writing relevant to you.

We all come to this process from varied backgrounds, and all have had our individual hurdles and struggles to overcome. For many of us, school has been one of those struggles. I for one came from a family that experienced economic hardship and a few major tragedies I won't go into now, but, as a result I barely graduated high school. With time, I found my place and my voice in an academic environment. Because I didn't have it easy, I don't assume writing is easy for everyone. However, I do firmly believe that each and every one of you come into the course with something of value, a core strength as a scholar, writer, and thinker, a back story of your own. You have something to contribute to academia that only you can contribute. Our job is to work together to identify and build on that strength.
