I am a chemistry educator with more than 28 years of teaching experience and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. I have taught chemistry and science to middle school and high school students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds. I am a chemistry educator with more than 28 years of teaching experience and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. I have taught chemistry and science to middle school and high school students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds. My experience includes classroom instruction as well as individualized and one-on-one support. I have taught high school Chemistry, Chemistry Honors, Pre-AP Chemistry, Pre-IB Chemistry, IB Chemistry, and AP Chemistry. I currently work as a science teacher and also coach Science Olympiad, where I help students apply scientific concepts through experimentation, analysis, and problem-solving.

During tutoring sessions, I first determine what the student already understands and identify any gaps that may be preventing progress. I then break difficult chemistry topics into manageable steps using diagrams, visual models, real-life examples, guided calculations, practice questions, and targeted review. I help students understand why a scientific principle or problem-solving method works instead of asking them simply to memorize formulas. When time, location, and safety guidelines permit, I also use brief demonstrations or laboratory-style activities to connect abstract chemistry concepts with observable results.

I can support students who need help with homework, laboratory concepts, test preparation, mathematical problem-solving, or a stronger foundation in chemistry. I can also help advanced students prepare for honors, AP, Pre-IB, and IB coursework. What sets me apart is my combination of extensive chemistry teaching experience, graduate-level training in curriculum and instruction, and experience adapting lessons to students with different learning styles and academic needs. My goal is to provide patient and structured instruction that improves understanding, builds confidence, and helps students become more independent learners.

I Highly Recommend

This chemistry tutor explains difficult concepts in a clear way. He helped me a lot with Unit 1 and Unit 2, especially the mole concept, Avogadro’s number, molar mass calculations, and how to solve problems using dimensional analysis. He breaks down each problem step by step and shows me how to set up conversions correctly, making challenging topics much easier to understand. Since working with him, my grades have improved, and I feel much more confident in chemistry. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to strengthen their understanding of chemistry and improve their grades!
