Hi! I’m Lauren! I have worked in nursing and advanced practice for more than 16 years. I earned my AA and ASN from Florida State College at Jacksonville in 2008 and 2009, my BSN from the University of West Florida in 2010, and my MSN in Pediatric Primary Care from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2014. I am a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
I began my career in pediatric home health and then worked as a Progressive Care RN at Shands Medical Center from 2009–2015. Since 2015, I have worked as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Baptist South. I’ve seen it all! My experience includes adult nursing, pediatrics, newborn care, anatomy and physiology, patient assessment, clinical decision-making, and medical terminology.
While I have not worked as a formal classroom teacher or tutor, teaching has been a regular part of my clinical career. I have oriented and trained new nurses, advanced practice providers, physician assistants and even physicians! I also have nursing students follow me in the clinical setting. I regularly teach one-on-one, answer questions, review patient cases, and explain the reasoning behind clinical decisions.
As a tutor, I focus on figuring out where a student is struggling and breaking the material down in a way that makes sense to them. I like to explain why an answer is correct rather than just giving the answer, and I can use real clinical examples to help students connect what they are learning to patient care. I am especially interested in tutoring nursing and healthcare students in nursing coursework, NCLEX preparation, pediatrics, anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology.
