Hi, I'm Alex, I've been a substitute math teacher for a year now and have tutored math for over 5 years. I specialize in pre-calculus, geometry, calculus and algebra. In college I took math courses up to Analytic Geometry and Calculus Two and received As in each class. I am currently in the process of obtaining my teaching license and I enjoy teaching Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Geometry, Linear Algebra, SAT math and Chemistry. I graduated from the University of Florida in 2023.

In addition to my classroom experience, I have several years of informal tutoring experience working with both high school and college students in mathematics and chemistry. These experiences have taught me that every student learns differently, so I tailor my teaching style to meet each student's individual needs, learning pace, and goals.

My tutoring philosophy centers on building a strong conceptual foundation rather than relying on memorization. I believe that when students truly understand why a concept works, they gain the confidence to solve unfamiliar problems independently. During our sessions, I break down challenging topics into manageable, easy-to-understand steps and encourage students to think out loud as they work through problems. This allows me to identify misunderstandings in real time, reinforce correct reasoning, and adapt my explanations to ensure each concept is fully understood.

I strive to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I view mistakes as valuable opportunities to learn, and I work to build confidence alongside academic skills. Whether a student is trying to improve their grades, prepare for an important exam, strengthen foundational knowledge, or challenge themselves with advanced coursework, I am committed to helping them reach their goals.
