I'm a credentialed medical coding and health information professional with 25 years of experience in the revenue cycle. I hold an Associate's degree in Health Information Management and two AHIMA credentials: the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) and the Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
Across those 25 years, I've worked directly in outpatient billing and auditing, applying the ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level II code sets across thousands of real cases and reviewing documentation for accuracy and compliance. Teaching adults has been part of that work throughout. I designed and led billing trainings for various departments, and I provided one-on-one instruction for new employees who needed extra support, meeting each person at their level and building their skills step by step.
I tutor adults in the ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS code sets, and I prepare students for the CPC, CPB, CCS, and RHIT certification exams. Having earned the CCS and RHIT myself, I draw on 25 years of coding and billing experience to help students master the same concepts these tests measure. My approach is practical. I connect each code to the documentation and payment behind it, work through realistic scenarios, and teach the reasoning behind the guidelines so students are ready both on exam day and on the job.
