Hi there! I’m Shikara, and I’m so glad you’re here. If school ever feels confusing or stressful, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. I work with students just like you who want to feel more confident, understand things more clearly, and start enjoying learning again.

I currently teach 3rd grade and have been in the classroom since 2007. I’m certified to teach K–6 and hold both ESOL and Reading Endorsements. I specialize in 3rd grade reading and math benchmarks because they’re such important building blocks. Whether you’re a 2nd grader working ahead, a 3rd grader keeping up, or a 4th or 5th grader reviewing, I’ll meet you where you are and help you move forward.

Outside the classroom, I’ve tutored students one-on-one and in small groups, both in person and virtually. One of my students loved our custom lessons so much that he stopped bringing homework and asked to work on my lessons instead! We met twice a week, following a structure I use for all my sessions: we discuss the benchmark, I model the skill, then students get guided practice and independent work. My goal is for you to feel supported, capable, and proud of your progress.

I also have experience working with students who have IEPs and 504 plans. I adapt each session to meet individual needs—whether that means extra time, step-by-step strategies, or just encouragement.
