Hi! My name is Gavin. I work as a full-time software engineer, and between this and my bachelor's degree in mathematics from Tulane University, I've seen a lot of math.

If you are struggling with a challenging class, having difficulty understanding concepts, or just overall feeling lost in the world of mathematics, I am here to help. I promise that if you put in the time and work with the strategies I provide, you will succeed. My teaching philosophy is that no math problem is inherently difficult; every problem becomes manageable when it is broken down into simpler, more fundamental pieces.

At Tulane, I studied hard (3.8 GPA) and employed my student-centered teaching approach to help freshman and sophomore students ages 18–22 succeed in various collegiate calculus courses, such as Calculus and Long Calculus. I worked with 3–4 students a week throughout my senior year in a one-on-one tutoring setting, and this is where I developed my strong educational methodologies.

Furthermore, I led a Bay Area augmented reality/programming camp, where I worked with over 100 students ages 8–15 in a classroom environment. I've seen a lot of bright students who feel defeated by math, and I have two years of teaching experience under my belt.

Whether you want to gain a strong mathematical foundation for the rest of your life or just achieve an A+ in that impossible class, I'm here to help.

As someone who has tutored students in calculus for over 200 hours, I believe I have a great understanding of how to explain complex topics to different minds. My coursework in advanced calculus and Real Analysis has provided me experience in the direct rigorous mathematical proofs behind the fundamentals of Math, and helps me educate in a student-oriented manner.

Elementary Math

Elementary Math

As a double major at Tulane university, I devoted countless hours to advanced math, which helped me foster the techniques I use today with students of all ages. Elementary math is the first real taste of mathematics, and teaching students to be confident at this. age can have enormous ripples across their entire educational journey. I've spent time teaching 100+ students learning at this level, and have received frequent positive feedback from both the satisfaction of experience with kids to the proof in the results of my teachings.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

Many people who study math consider prealgebra is the door to the ever growing world of mathematics, and it's so essential to get this subject right. I've worked with students who love math but are struggling with this topic to students that frankly would rather be playing video games, and through my teachings, I have consistently seen excellent in-classroom success a well as a re-developing of the passion for math with my students.

Very knowledgeable

He helped me a lot and was able to meet me at the level I was at without making me feel dumb which is something I have experienced in the past. He was very kind and knew everything I needed help in. I definitely recommend!
