Approved Subjects

Ear Training

Ear Training

I have extensive training as a pianist and vocalist, including college coursework in ear training and sight singing. I have had successful experience in teaching ear training and intervals to students, and have used both solfege and number systems for sight singing and ear training purposes. I have even helped people who cannot sing on key learn to match pitch. It's often not the ear, but breath and vocal coordination that needs development!
General Music

General Music

I have a Master of Music from New York University and a bachelor of music degree from the Ohio State University, and have studied classical piano for 8+ years. I have experience teaching beginner and intermediate piano and voice lessons to people of many different ages, as well as accompanying on piano at contests, and accompanying choirs and directing musicals (including professional regional theatre music direction). I have a solid foundation in music theory and ear training ability, which would make me a great teacher for anyone with general music tutoring needs.
Music Theory

Music Theory

I have a Master of Music from New York University and a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Ohio State University School of Music. Outstanding Tutor

My son auditioned and got into his high school chorale this year. This was the first time in a choir so he was very nervous and he wanted to find a tutor to teach him how to sing appropriately. Eric is a very patient and effective tutor--the lessons are challenging and enjoyable. Even after a few lessons, I've noticed a tremendous difference in my son's singing ability.

Supportive, encouraging, patient and effective

Eric will encourage you and build you up with warm and caring atmosphere, step-by-step exercises and scientifically backed explanations to demystify vocal anatomy. Some beginners like me would tense up and Eric notices these tiny emotion, body language changes and will help you relax and get your head back on track again. Eric also gave feedback after each exercise to help me understand what I did great and what to focus on to improve. After one lesson with Eric, I have already endless good things to say about him and the way he teaches. Not only he teaches well, but what a great human being.

Insightful and Caring Tutor

Eric is quite insightful and knowledgeable about his work. He really helped me with helpful hints in maintaining healthy vocal cords and a stronger voice. He even suggested I meet with a specialist. He shows it’s not a job for Eric, he actually cares. And I appreciate that type of work ethic.

Knowledgable and great communicator

Eric is super knowledgable on the science of how the voice works and I find that his techniques are very helpful in accessing better technique and range. I have only just started working with him, but am already surprised at how open my voice feels when I'm working with him. He is patient and encouraging and just has a really nice demeanor as a teacher. I highly recommend him!

Wonderful singing coach

Eric has been fantastic working with our 7 and 10 year old sons. He is patient, keeps it engaging for them, and chooses pieces that keep their interest level high. I also love how he incorporates music theory and reading into the sessions. He has a wonderful way with children.
