My love of Teaching comes from a lifelong love of learning. I have had the pleasure of helping hundreds of students realize their potential and see their grades and test scores improve. Teaching is the best job that I have ever had. I am a retired teacher from the State of Florida,
I specialize in teaching students "How" to learn not "what" to learn, I use techniques to find out the way a student learns, are they a Visual or Auditory learner, this helps me and the student to increase their Study habits, note taking skills and many more learning techniques. These are proven techniques that I have learned and used in my teaching career. I provide challenging lessons and provide periodic assessments and progress reports.
To ensure that students have a quiet and comfortable study space in which to work with me, I have a tutoring office next to my home. However I am happy to travel to another location if that is more convenient for the student.
My experience in Anatomy and Physiology started as a Physical Director with a Major YMCA, where I was instrumental in starting a Cardiac Rehabilitation program working with Heart Patients. I taught Marine Science with the Florida Keys Marine Institute, and have taught Earth Science and Meteorology. thru my career I have taught History, and Social Studies. The most important thing that I can teach a student again is HOW to learn any subject they choose.
I hold myself to a high standard, for that reason I never bill for a lesson in which the student or parent is not satisfied with my tutoring. I try to be flexible with time. While I do have a 24 hour cancellation policy, I do offer makeup classes, I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
