Throughout my college career, I have volunteered and performed research in the Muscular Physiology lab at the University of Florida. During the summer, I worked under Dr. Neha Lodha as head trainer for participants in a study regarding the effects of strokes on driving. I worked ten to fifteen hours every week training diverse individuals to reveal the lasting effects that strokes and transient ischemic attacks can have on driving performance. I currently work with a Ph.D. student, on a project concerning myotonia, which is a neuromuscular disorder that affects the contractions and relaxation of skeletal muscles in the body. In this study, plantarflexion and dorsiflexion tests are performed on individuals of several ages. My research duties include extensive data analysis on variables that pertain to prediction of time and displacement. The conclusions of this project will help people with this condition to improve the way they cope with their symptoms.
I will be graduating with my AA in Exercise Physiology from Santa Fe College on April 28th, 2017 and I will be attending the University of Florida in the fall. My plan is to complete my bachelor's degree and go to medical school and specialize in sports medicine and later open my own private practice. I am interested in medicine because I love to help and work with people, especially children, and teenagers because I realize the challenges of elementary and high school. I like to use the challenges that I faced to help others.
I received an A in Calculus 1 at Santa Fe College and I worked as a student instructor for one year for Calculus 1. I lived in Quebec for 15 years, received a 5 on the AP French test, and a perfect (800) on the SAT French test. I received an A in ENC1101 and ENC2210.
