Hi! I'm a senior Microbiology and Cell Science student at the University of Florida with a minor in Pathogenesis and several years of experience in biology, microbiology, molecular biology, and infectious disease research. My coursework includes upper-level biology, microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, cell biology, and virology. I conduct research involving marine diseases and malaria using techniques including PCR, qPCR, DNA/RNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, and nucleic acid quantification.
I have experience teaching and mentoring students in both classroom and laboratory settings. I currently work as a substitute teacher with middle and high school students, and I help train undergraduate students in my research lab on laboratory procedures and molecular biology techniques. I also gained teaching experience in a BSL-2 biotechnology laboratory during high school. These experiences have taught me how to identify where a student is struggling and explain difficult concepts in different ways until they make sense.
I tutor middle school, high school, and college students in biology and related sciences, including microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, and molecular biology. I focus on understanding rather than memorization by breaking complex topics into manageable pieces, working through examples, and having students apply concepts themselves. I tailor sessions to each student's course and learning style, whether they need help with homework, exam preparation, or building a stronger understanding of the material.
