Hi there! My name is Krista :) I’m an experienced elementary educator with over three years of classroom teaching in a play and project-based learning environment. I specialize in supporting K–5 students in reading, writing, math, and science, with a focus on building confidence, curiosity, and strong foundational skills. My approach is patient, engaging, and tailored to each student’s unique learning style. I have worked with students in group settings (of up to 16) as well as daily small groups and 1:1 teaching, where each level brings out different aspects of the students' learning. I have helped students with all kinds of special needs excel and grow tremendously in academics and social situations.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida in Botany, with a specialization in Research, which allows me to bring science to life in a hands-on and meaningful way. I developed and taught “Plant of the Month” units, where students explored various local plants through observation, experiments, art, gardening and writing. I also am a Certified Yoga Teacher with nearly a decade of teaching experience that lends itself to powerful moments of socio-emotional learning, body awareness, patience and compassion from moment to moment.
I strive to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and growing at their own pace. Whether your child needs help catching up, staying on track, or feeling more confident in school, I bring structure, creativity, and genuine care to every session. I’m happy to collaborate with parents to support specific goals and make learning a positive experience.
