I am down to earth and especially skilled in translating complex, difficult information to a lesson easily understood by any student. I also excel in teaching studying and test taking skills. I am genuinely passionate about teaching - it gives me joy. I have been teaching numerous subjects since I was 18 years old, a total of 45 years. My first teaching experience was coaching a youth swim team ages 5 to 18. I then tutored chemistry and math as my work study for Marshall University. I then taught high school and college students in chemistry as a private tutor. I worked for Wyzant as a math and chemistry tutor in 2004. I have been an Association of Materials Performance and Protection (AMPP) certified instructor for 25 years teaching corrosion theory, chemistry, and inspection.
My approach to tutoring is focused on actually learning the subject, not just obtaining passing grades. I will prepare for each lesson before the tutor session. I will break down the subject material in a way that simplifies sufficiently that all students can understand. I am very patient and know one of the main keys to learning is that the student must feel comfortable and confident. My number one priority is for your student to succeed..
