Hello! My name is Camila and I am a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Florida specializing in tutoring mathematics. I graduated high school and Valencia College (Associate in Arts degree) in May of 2025 with an unweighted GPA of 4.0 and an weighted high school GPA of 5.3. I graduated top 20 of my class. I have taken AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, and AP Physics C: Mechanics and scored a 5 on all exams. I also received College Board’s AP Scholar with Distinction in 2024 and scored a 740 on the math portion of the SAT. I am currently taking Calculus 3 at the University of Florida. I love math!
In terms of experience with children, I was a Rising Stars Mentor and Tutor in Winter Garden, Florida for 5th grade students in the fall semester of 2024. I helped children with homework after school and gave academic advice about the transition from elementary school to middle school. I have also served as a Summer Music Camp Counselor two years in a row leading groups of elementary to middle school-aged students in flute workshops and self-made lesson plans. I am very comfortable working with elementary and middle school-aged children.
I am a very calm, patient, and optimistic person. I love to help students feel confident in their abilities. I believe that it is very important that students understand the 'why' of mathematics, in order to grasp concepts on a deeper level. Anyone who is willing to learn can become a master in math!
