My name is Darryl, and I am a Mathematics student at the University of Florida with over three years of tutoring experience. To me, mathematics is more than calculations; it is a language of patterns, logic, and discovery. I bring this mindset into every session by focusing not only on how to solve problems, but why concepts work and where they come from. Through step by step examples and original, optional lesson notes and practice materials I create for my students upon requesr, I aim to make abstract ideas clear, engaging, and memorable.
I have worked with students of all ages and backgrounds, from K–12 learners to college students in Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Differential Equations, and Statistics. In addition to private tutoring, I worked with Varsity Tutors for one year and supported approximately 50 students across a wide range of high school and college mathematics topics. I have also served as a Math Assistant at summer camps, where I helped students build confidence and strengthen their problem solving skills in a supportive, interactive environment.
I specialize in Algebra, Geometry, AP Calculus, and SAT and ACT Math preparation. I earned perfect scores on the PSAT and SAT Math sections, as well as top scores of 4s and 5s on my AP exams. My teaching approach emphasizes strong conceptual foundations, independent thinking, and effective problem solving skills that extend beyond a single test or class. I believe every student learns math differently, and my goal is to identify that pathway and make the subject more approachable and even enjoyable.
