I am a junior at the University of Florida, majoring in biochemistry, with a strong academic background in math, chemistry, and music. I scored a 5 on AP Chemistry, AP Calculus AB, and AP Music Theory, and I earned the chemistry award in high school. At the university level, I have excelled in challenging courses, earning A's in Organic Chemistry 1 and 2, Calculus 2, and Genetics, which equips me to tutor confidently in these subjects.

My tutoring experience includes working with over 15 students, mostly high schoolers, and some middle schoolers. I have tutored through organizations like Mu Alpha Theta, the Science National Honor Society (SNHS), and Tri-M, primarily as a volunteer, but I have also tutored privately. I have a student-centered approach, focusing on connecting with students and adapting to their unique learning styles to help them fully understand the material. I emphasize helping students grasp the underlying nuances of concepts, moving beyond rote memorization to deeper comprehension.

In addition to academic tutoring, I have extensive experience in music, particularly with the viola and violin. I was the principal player in my high school orchestra for three years, as well as for the Pasco District All-County Orchestra. Over two years, I mentored a violin student from beginner level to joining the highest-level orchestra at their high school. I used Suzuki books and my personal practice methods, developed over seven years of playing and private lessons, to guide their progress.

My goal as a tutor is to be relatable and approachable, ensuring students not only succeed academically but also develop a deeper appreciation for the subject, whether it's math, chemistry, or music.

Patient and kind tutor

Lucas is very helpful, working with me step-by-step to get my instrument set up, tuned, and begin learning the music and working on the instrument itself. The progression has been great!
