Hey, my name is Shelby! I’m a senior at the University of Florida and will be graduating this spring with my degree in Elementary Education. I hold certification to teach grades K–6, and throughout my time in the program I’ve gained extensive experience working with students from early elementary all the way up through middle school. My background includes formal coursework in literacy, math, and science instruction, and I’ve also completed specialized training in UFLI, which has shaped my approach to teaching reading through explicit, structured, and engaging practice.

I am currently student teaching in a fifth-grade classroom, where I lead instruction in math and science, design lessons, and support diverse learners through both whole-group and small-group teaching. Outside of the classroom, I’ve tutored students one-on-one in reading, writing, math, and general homework support. I love helping students build confidence, master foundational skills, and learn how to approach challenging tasks with strategies that make them feel successful. My experience allows me to support learners across a wide range of needs—whether that’s early reading and phonics, upper-elementary math, or introductory middle school content.

Above all, I care deeply about meeting students where they are and helping them grow. I strive to make each session encouraging, structured, and tailored to the student’s goals.
