Experienced Tutor with expertise in Test-Taking

I am a rising junior at the University of Florida, currently studying as a computer science major with a minor in sociology and business administration. I am able to tutor in the Gainesville region since I am an in-person student at UF. I graduated from high school at Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts and I have an A.A. degree from Santa Fe College. I have extensive experience in Calculus and test-prep (SAT, ACT, etc) from my high school, and in depth knowledge of programming languages and psychology from college.

In terms of previous tutoring experience, I have not officially tutored students from a standard website but I have tutored students in both high school and college as service hours. I find tutoring to be valuable to both student, and teacher, since it allows the student to better understand the material while furthering the knowledge of the teacher. I have done in person tutoring for things such as calculus and piano, as well as online tutoring for programming, and psychology. I also created an SAT prep Club in high school where I regularly helped students improve their test taking skills as well as tutoring the subjects typically found in the exam. While I have no official certification or degrees to demonstrate my understanding of subjects, I have received awards and recognition for my extensive knowledge in such subjects.

In terms of methodology, for students that already know their area of weakness, I will typically work with them on existing problems that they've encountered that they've struggled on. For those who are unsure about their weaknesses, or have a general lack of knowledge, I will usually start with a small diagnostic test or inquire about key terms and concepts within the subject to gauge their current understanding, and how best to continue. In this regard, I am adept at helping students under any situation, even if they aren't sure themselves of what they need help with.
