Spanish Tutor with Instruction Experience Aiming to Build Confidence

I received both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Florida (UF), studying Spanish and Linguistics. With my linguistics background, I am able to see where or why students may be struggling with a particular aspect of the language. In addition to improving students' performance in Spanish, I also aim to build confidence. Confidence with a language goes a long way! I am also passionate about helping students improve their pronunciation.

In addition to my six years of Hispanic Linguistics research experience, I also worked for two years as a graduate instructor for UF's SPN 1130 and 1131 (Beginning Spanish I and II) courses. I averaged 25 students per class and also provided one-on-one assistance to students during office hours. I also created small group study sessions before large exams.

I currently work as an advisor at UF, so my one-on-one interactions with students continue. This goes back to my goal of building confidence in students. As part of my role, I also teach a once-a-week course to help incoming freshmen acclimate to the college and link them up with resources.

In general, I am passionate about language-learning, having learned Spanish through classroom/immersion, in addition to having studied beginning Swahili, and learned conversational Italian solely through immersion.
