I've been a writing tutor at Flagler College for over two years, and I love every minute of it. I've tutored students with a wide variety of skill level - some students seem more knowledgeable about English and grammar than I do, while others have trouble explaining what a noun is. I enjoy the variety of students with which I work, as well as the unique assignments they bring to me. That being said, I do typically work with students to improve their writing. I am adept at all areas of writing, including idea development, thesis writing, organization, sentence structure, content reading, grammar, flow, and citations. I do my best to ensure each student is fulfilling the writing prompt and articulating their own ideas.
As an English major, I am also able to tutor in English, literature, and reading comprehension. I'm a book nerd, so I love any chance to discuss reading assignments with students. The majority of my tutoring sessions are discussion-based, a one-on-one conversation in which I will record notes for you to review in the future. My goal is to ensure each student with which I work gains an understanding of the assignment that they can apply for themselves in the future.
I am a capable tutor because I am passionate about the subject and about conveying information to other people in ways they understand.
