Are you looking to improve your test scores, learn a new language, or strengthen your foundation in reading and writing? I have a proven track record of helping students reach their full potential. I graduated Cum Laude from a 'baby Ivy' college and have been teaching ever since. From my early years as a volunteer with urban at-risk youths and rural Mayan children in Mexico, to almost two decades as a Pine Crest high school teacher, I have the experience and dedication to tailor each session to the individual needs of my students.

My teaching approach inspires students to take ownership of their learning as they embrace new strategies that allow them to achieve their best. Depending on the age and subject, we might begin with a review of previous material, delve into a reading passage, then highlight skills such as finding the main idea, using the context clues to discern new vocabulary, note-taking, and more. I have ample resources at hand to help a student strengthen weak areas in grammar, vocabulary and /or paragraph comprehension. With a graduate degree in Literature and many years of experience as an editor and translator, I am also happy to work with students to improve their writing skills.

I was trained in the Rassias Method at Dartmouth College, and have successfully taught from pre-K to college level using the communicative approach. Little ones will thrive on this lively approach, while older students will feel motivated by engaging in meaningful written and verbal interactions. As needed, I offer students expert help on building a grammar base and strengthening vocabulary.

I delight in helping students learn proven test-taking strategies that will increase their confidence and help them achieve their full potential on these important tests. My credentials include a BA and MA at a 'Baby Ivy' college and a perfect score on the ACT, combined wih years of teaching experience. After assessing the needs of my students, I create tailor-made lessons to target individual areas of weakness. Gain confidenc
