I know the importance of being taught in a manner that suits both the student and instructor, and the value that lies in making the subject interesting to the student. We don't always get the best teachers and in certain classes or subjects that might affect how much passion or effort we can put out. I'm here to make the subjects relatable and the learning process as smooth as possible. My lesson plans will outline not only the relatability and fun in the subjects, but how essential they are as well. I like to get right to the point of things, but we can always have a good time getting there.
My tutoring experience is primarily in English, in small groups of about 3-8 people. I've conducted tutoring sessions for both U.S. and World History as well, but on a somewhat larger scale. It's important not to overload yourself as a tutor, or you run the risk of not being able to pay enough attention to individuals. That strikes me as counterproductive. That being said, I do prefer one on one tutoring sessions that allow me to get as specific as I need to be with one person and their learning needs.
At the end of the day, tutoring is supposed to benefit the student by enabling them to learn not only the material, but how they best absorb information, so they're better equipped in the future.
