Starting in Broward County, I tutored mathematics through the math club at my high school, Cypress Bay, where I received over 60 service hours. After graduating, I continued tutoring through private sessions that were personally scheduled, throughout my entire undergraduate college career. Theses sessions varied in subject, including introductory statistics, algebra, calculus, and more.

Starting in Broward County, I tutored mathematics through the math club at my high school, Cypress Bay, where I received over 60 service hours. After graduating, I continued tutoring through private sessions that were personally scheduled, throughout my entire undergraduate college career. After receiving a 4-year degree, I spent 2 years teaching physics labs, spending 1 year at Florida International University, and then another year at Florida State University. As a university teaching assistant, I also help students outside of the lab at my office hours, with question from the lectured class. During my year at Florida International University, I spent one semester teaching a physics problem solving course, where problem solutions were demonstrated for a class of students, like a traditional classroom setting with students asking questions for immediate feedback.
I understand that there is always more than one way to solve a problem. What is an easy method for one student may not work as well for another. I also put less value on the final answer and more emphasis on the solving steps. Many students are quite mathematically capable, but due to a poor teaching environments, many students loose their confidence in their ability. This hesitation to answer questions acts as a bigger anchor than actual intelligence, which is why I also develop students trust in themselves and encourage making mistakes. Mistakes are how we learn.
I am quite available this spring until june, and am accepting new students. If you're interested in receiving tutoring in math or science, please contact me through Wyzant. I look forward to working with you.
