Hello! My name is Miranda and I specialize in both computer graphics and generalized writing and would love to share my expertise with you.

I have a bachelor's degree from Ringling College of Art + Design, one of the top CG colleges on the East Coast and graduated with a major in Computer Animation and a minor in Creative Writing. I have extensive knowledge with Autodesk Maya, RenderMan, Nuke, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Premiere and use all programs on a daily basis. While I can easily teach the technical aspects of these programs, such as modeling, UVing and rendering, I can also provide artistic feedback for character designs and story direction. Additionally, I am familiar with all aspects of creating concept art and storyboards and can communicate artistic lessons in appeal, color concepts, and design compositions.

In writing, I am familiar with just about every kind of written medium, from fiction and scripts to essays and business letters. Throughout my time in college, I worked for the Academic Resource Center as a Writing Consultant and loved the job very much. Their motto was, "Make better writers, not better writing" and I took this saying to heart. I am not there to sit at your side and mark up your paper in red ink while you slowly lose confidence in your abilities. As your tutor, I believe it is my responsibility to work WITH you, to make sure you understand why certain things are incorrect and help you to improve your writing overall.

On a more technical level, I can teach almost any kind of writing. However, I have the most experience with essays and storytelling and can help with outlining, organization, sentence structure, character and plot development, tenses, points of view, and grammar and spelling errors. As a graduate of Ringling College of Art + Design with a major in Computer Animation, I am familiar with both 3D and 2D animation. I have an in-depth understanding of every step needed to create a complete animated piece, from concept design to final composites. I specialize in Maya and RenderMan and can specifically teach modeling, rigging, UVing, texturing, lighting, rendering, and compositing.

I have a long history of sketching from live models and believe anatomy is essential knowledge for improving your work. Patient and Enthusiastic Tutor!

As I was applying for colleges, I struggled with my confidence. I would get overwhelmed, worrying that what I would send to my colleges wouldn’t be good enough. Miranda is an amazing tutor! I would highly recommend her to anyone who is in need of learning Maya or any related skill! Miranda is very dedicated to her student's success, and goes the extra mile to make sure her students thoroughly understand all of the material, inside and out! I really appreciate the time she puts in to making sure that her students are able to understand and complete their current lessons, assignments, or projects in time, and that you never leave a lesson without your current assignment completed (or the ability to complete your current assignment). That is such a great relief, because when you start any tutoring, you often feel stressed that you won't be able to finish projects in time. Yet Miranda helps you keep up with your projects every step of the way, to make sure you have the all of the skills necessary to complete them (She is so helpful that she even types up notes and guidelines that you can refer back to, in case you get lost or stuck on a project in between tutoring sessions!- which is so appreciated!) When I first started tutoring with Miranda, I felt I was definetely in danger of not passing my Maya class. But thanks to her time, effort, and dedication, in a few short weeks I am now becoming much more confident in my Maya skills, and feel like I have hope to go on in digital animation in the futureI I would highly recommend Miranda to anyone in need of tutoring!
