I have been teaching since I was a child. I would share whatever I had learned in school with my stuffed animals and dolls, using the wall in my bedroom as a blackboard. I studied liberal arts in college, graduating with honors. As an adult, I have taught in various volunteer capacities. My children were homeschooled which deepened my understanding of teaching and learning. I believe that everyone can learn if given the the chance to use the way the person learns best.

Later in life, I decided to try substitute teaching which sparked my interest in pursuing teaching as a profession. I received my M.Ed from The George Washington University (Washington, DC) in 2009. While studying for my graduate degree, I began teaching at a public elementary school in suburban Maryland. My methods are nontraditional, relying mainly on educational technology.
I hold ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) certifications in Maryland and Florida for grades K-12. I taught listening, speaking, reading and writing to ESOL students for nine years. My love of reading and writing make me an excellent teacher of those subjects. I was the team leader of ESOL teachers for six years. During that tenure, I conducted and participated in professional development sessions to improve teaching practice. I have numerous notes from parents and students which express their gratitude to me as a teacher.
