Hello all, my name is Ilya. I am currently a medical student at Nova Southeastern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. I graduated from NSU in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and went on to enter medical school. From the time of my high school years, I was always eager about taking science classes and was particularly fond of courses like AP Biology, AP chemistry, anatomy and calculus. Those classes did not come easy to me, especially with the large volume of material that was given for one single exam. However, my success in the classroom largely depended on how positive the teacher was in explaining the subject and how determined they were in ensuring that students understood certain concepts. As a tutor, I took advantage of my own passion for the sciences and applied them to multiple subjects that I tutored before and during medical school.

I initially started off tutoring elementary school children in math and reading as part of a job I had during my first year of undergrad. In my final years of undergrad, I tutored students at my own university in the subject of general chemistry. While attending medical school, I tutored first-year students in topics such as cardiovascular physiology, respiratory physiology and neuroanatomy. In the summer that followed my first year of medical school, I was accepted to be an Anatomy Fellow at NSU for the month of June, under the supervision of the Anatomy Director. This fellowship consisted of dissecting cadavers, studying them and later teaching different anatomical sections to other healthcare programs such as Dentistry, Optometry and the Physician Assistant program.

I am very enthusiastic about helping students learn and witnessing the reward of having them develop confidence in the subject they are studying. I know what it feels like for some classes to seem overwhelming, but that shouldn’t stop someone from gaining a full understanding and being well-equipped with the knowledge to tackle an exam. I always welcome different study resources

Approved Subjects

Microbiology

Microbiology

I took multiple courses in Microbiology in undergrad. These included Microbiology I with Lab and Applied Microbiology in Undergrad. During Graduate Medical School, I took Medical Microbiology I, II and Immunology which covered a vast range of organisms including Fungi, Bacteria, Viruses, Parasites and medical diseases caused by all of those organisms.
Pharmacology

Pharmacology

I have taken a pharmacology class during medical school which required students to learn a wide variety of drugs including antibiotics, antivirals, diabetes drugs, and others pertaining to specific illnesses. The course was titled "Principles of Pharmacology." Additionally, I studied pharmacology in blocks during courses that covered specific diseases (ex. Rheumatoid arthritis pharmacology while taking Musculoskeletal Pathology, endocrine pharmacology while taking a course in Endocrine Pathology). I currently posses a DO degree which was obtained on September 30, 2022. Furthermore, I have taken and passed COMLEX Level 1 for my DO degree which required extensive knowledge of pharmacological agents and their mechanisms of action.
Physiology

Physiology

Graduated from medical school in 2022. During my time there, I studied and passed regular physiology, cardiovascular physiology and respiratory physiology.
Reading

Reading

I originally started teaching reading to elementary and middle school students during the summer of my sophomore year in high school through private lessons. I continued doing this during the summer of my junior year. Soon after, during my first year of undergrad, I obtained a job through the America Reads/America Counts program at my university. I was placed in an elementary school to work closely with students in grades 1-5 and tutor them in reading and mathematics. I would have one-on-one tutoring sessions with multiple children in a day and communicate their daily progress to their class teacher.
