It was there I had the opportunity to tutor students for the first time. I also offered private tutoring among my peers in college. I continued my education at Florida Atlantic University, where I received a Master's in Business Administration.
What I love about tutoring is that it gives you the chance to reach the student, when the teacher cannot. The informal environment makes it more comfortable for the student to learn. Being one-on-one relieves any pressure that they may feel being in a classroom. I speak from experience because I have been tutored many times over my academic career.
I've mastered reading and comprehending various styles of writing such as: expository, descriptive, and narrative writing. I've also mastered techniques that will help your student identify the main idea, draw conclusions, and be an overall better student. As a foundation to reading, I make sure the student is comfortable with the concept of phonics, and how to apply it to reading.
Sessions can be held at the library or anywhere the student feels comfortable. I am open to traveling up to 15 miles outside my radius. If you need any help, please feel free to contact me. I will do my best to reply within an hour.
