I am currently a mathematics student at Duke University, where my coursework has given me a deep understanding of both foundational and advanced mathematical concepts. This academic background directly informs my ability to tutor subjects ranging from basic algebra and geometry to calculus and beyond, as well as standardized tests like the SAT and ACT, which are heavily rooted in mathematical reasoning and problem-solving.
What sets my approach apart is that I have been in my students' shoes. I improved my own SAT score from a 1400 to a 1590 entirely on my own, without a tutor, by developing and refining a set of study methods that worked. I now teach those exact methods to my students. Over the past three years, I have worked one-on-one with students of middle and high school age to help them prepare for the SAT and ACT, as well as to strengthen their skills in higher-level math. Rather than drilling students with generic practice problems, I focus on teaching the reasoning behind each concept so students can adapt to any question they encounter on test day. This approach has produced strong results — many of my students have seen score increases of 250 points or more.
I usually meet with students twice per week in a focused, one-on-one online setting, which allows me to give each student my full attention and adjust my teaching pace to match their progress. I genuinely enjoy watching students grow in confidence as the material clicks, and I take pride in making what can feel like an overwhelming process feel manageable and motivating.
