Ever since elementary school I found math to come quite easy to me and is still to this day my favorite subject in school. I want to help other students find their enjoyment for math too and try my best to bring the same experience I have with math to my students. I first learn what the student needs help with and their goals to curate a plan moving forward. I like to use textbooks that break down concepts well and always leave time at the end for practice with the lesson.
I firmly believe in the objective of making students gain confidence in their math skills. I tutored online on Microsoft teams and create use powerpoints or textbook to teach. With my Ipad, I breakdown problems and insert myself into the students shoes to make sure I explain things clearly. I maintain an open environment with the student to answer questions they have and uncover foundational concepts not mastered. After the lesson, I send what we did in the session and more practice problems. Before starting the new lesson I will go over any confusion from the homework as needed.
I have a semester of math tutoring worth of experience with helping a student with geometry (regular) who has seen great improvement since then. I have worked with kids for over 5 years in extracurricular activities teaching preforming arts. I also took a Intro to Education course and classroom management course at Florida International University which helped me gain knowledge on learning styles to apply for my tutoring. In terms of math, I am highly skilled with excelling with flying colors in all math till college level Calculus II. I frequently help other students with understanding math lessons and confident in teaching other students the same.
