During my tenure at FPU, I was Treasurer and President of the University’s Chess Club, Captain of the Chess Team, and a member of the Chess.com (http://chess.com/) College Ambassadorship program. In addition, I was a Teaching Assistant for Physics 1 Lab at my university.
I have been tutoring in math, science, and coaching chess for the past eight years, and my students in these subjects range from 8-18. I enjoy helping neurodivergent and anxious students grasp tough concepts and also enjoy helping those I tutor in general. When tutoring math and science, I have usually done those in online, 1-to-1 settings. I help my students develop personalized learning strategies for their diverse needs and improve their comprehension and academic confidence in mathematics from these personalized strategies. When I was a chess coach, I led group activities with multiple participants, where they would play games against one another and I would analyze their performance and give them feedback.
Finally, I was the Assistant Music Director for Lovewell Institute, a musical theatre workshop where students and staff make musicals from scratch. There, I facilitated a variety of group activities such as vocal warm-ups, leading relaxing yoga sessions, writing scripts, and developing and creating original music scores.
