With over a decade of experience as a certified high school English teacher and literacy coach, I bring both academic expertise and a passion for supporting student growth. I hold a Bachelor of Science in English with a minor in Psychology from Florida A&M University, and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Florida State University, where I completed a capstone on civic engagement and community-based education. I am also a Florida Department of Education–recognized High Impact Teacher, a distinction awarded for driving measurable learning gains in Title I schools. In addition to my formal teaching credentials, I am ESOL K–12 certified, Reading Endorsed K–12, and have extensive training in reading intervention, curriculum development, and trauma-informed instruction.
I have taught students in grades 6–12 across a variety of academic levels, including multilingual learners, students with IEPs, and those in alternative or justice-involved programs. My approach is tailored and student-centered—I focus on building confidence and making content accessible while still rigorous. I’ve led both whole-class instruction and one-on-one sessions and understand how to adapt based on a student’s unique learning style. My specialties include essay writing, reading comprehension, grammar, literary analysis, and college/career writing (e.g., personal statements and scholarship essays).
Beyond the classroom, I’ve designed professional development sessions for fellow educators and worked in partnership with school districts to improve outcomes for underserved populations. My ultimate goal is to help students feel seen, capable, and empowered in their learning journey.
